"100 Years on the Ohio River"
(1765 to 1865 timeline)

2011 PARTICIPANT INFORMATION:

Participants  should email

with questions about the event if they are not answered here.

Setup for participants will begin Thursday September 15, 2011 for those participating in the school day.  We ask that everyone have camps ready for visitors by 9:45 am each morning and that all non period correct items are hidden from public view during the entire weekend.  No vehicles will be allowed in camp at all during the entire event unless you must pack up to leave after hours or there is an emergency.  The good news is we're camping under the trees around the house and if you MUST pack out during the day, we'll try to help.   Hours for the public are 10am to 5pm both days.

Camps will be laid off according to historical period so if you're not with a unit or group just find the people that look most like you.  .Firewood and water are available.  You may dig fire pits with the understanding that we'll try to put everything back before we leave.

Participants are welcome to engage in blanket trading $10.  If you have a skill that you demonstrate, please feel free to show the public.

SAFETY MEASURES

These rules are standard at most sanctioned re-enactment events.  They are imposed for the safety of both visitors and participants.  Every participant will sign a waiver indicating that they have read and understand these rules.

Weapons will be inspected as soon as possible following event registration.  Inspected weapons will be identified by a ribbon tied around the trigger guard or other suitable part of the gun.  Participants are responsible for getting inspected and insuring that their weapon is identified as "safe".  No weapon will be allowed in tacticals or on parade without this ribbon.  Hammerstalls and flashguards are mandatory for flintlocks that are used in tacticals.  All weapons should have a safe half-cock position.  Rammers should be marked to show an empty barrel.  NO POWDERHORNS SHOULD CONTAIN POWDER.  Loading must be done by cartridge.  Shooting bags for carrying cartridges MUST have a flap to keep sparks out.  Do not bring cartridges  loaded with powder AND ball on site at all....not even for demonstration.  No ramming of wadding at all is permitted.  In fact, rammers should ONLY be used for safety inspections.  All edged/pointed weapons should be covered with a sheath.

All re-enactors participating in demonstrations/tacticals must be a member of a unit and will form up with their unit and go through a unit safety inspection BEFORE taking the field.  No exceptions.  Unit commanders are responsible for their respective unit's inspections.  No firing is permitted in camp and visitors are not allowed to handle edged weapons or guns and should never be allowed to fire a weapon.

If you are NOT a member of permanently organized military unit that is affiliated with a national organization, please join one so we all know that our fellow re-enactors are following accepted practices with regard to safety and battlefield procedures.

Campfires should be located at least eight feet from flammable materials.  Each camp should have a fire bucket and a fire blanket near fires.
